$3.8 Million verdict won by Electrician

A Jury has awarded $3.8 million to a 45 year-old electrician in a negligence suit against real estate developer Olympia and York.

The suit, in Supreme Court, New York County, claimed that electrician Larry Horne was injured while working on an enclosed roof at 55 Water Street,, where an employee of Olympia and York was removing cinder block with a sledgehammer. According to the suit, Mr. Horne tripped on a piece of cinder block and suffered back injuries. Doctors determined that he could no longer work.

Mr.Horne won medical expenses, lost earnings and damages for pain and suffering. His wife was awarded $500,000 for loss of services. Peter Rosenberg of Rosenberg, Minc, Falkoff & Wolff, LLP, represented the plaintiff and Brian Jones of Hogan Jones and Parisi the defendant in Horne vs. O & Y Equity Corp.
